At American Hakko Products, our products have been designed to have the ability to sense specific errors and display corresponding error codes with them. In today's HAKKO TIPS issue, we will be taking a look at the common error codes, and the meanings behind them.

Below you will find a list of common error codes and their meanings.  In most cases, an error will display on your base unit and the unit will output an error tone or alarm indicating the error to the user.

S-E (Sensor Error)
This error will display when a failure has occurred on the sensor circuit, this error can also display when there is an intermittent connection on the sensor circuit. In the event an S-E error occurs on your station, please reference your user manual for allowable resistance values of the sensor. Inspect your soldering tip /heating element for physical damage and / or electrical damage. Ensure the soldering tip / heating element is properly installed into the handpiece / grip.

H-E (Heater Error)
This error will display when a failure has occurred on the heater circuit or the heating element has become physically damaged. In the event your unit has displayed a H-E, please reference your user manual for allowable resistance values of the heating element, inspect the heating element for physical damage, and ensure the heating element is installed properly into the grip.

C-E (Connector Error)
This error will display when an error has occurred with the soldering handpiece. Other instances of this error include cases when the soldering handpiece is not connected to the base unit, or an incorrect soldering handpiece is connected to the base unit. On some desoldering stations, this error can also display as “Grip Error “.  In the event your unit displays a C-E, please reference user manual for proper handpiece configurations, ensure the handpiece is not physically damaged, and ensure a handpiece is connected to the base unit.

HSE (Heater Terminal Short Circuit Error)
This error will display when an error has occurred with the soldering tip inserted into the grip. In the event your unit displays an HSE, please check the following:  Tips are inserted properly, a compatible tip has been inserted, or check to see if a foreign object has made its way into the connector socket.

F-E (Fan Error)
This error will display on hot air rework stations when the unit has sensed failure of the fan inside of the unit. In the event the unit displays a F-E, check the fan for proper installation/connection, and replace the fan inside of the unit if necessary.
